September 12, 2006
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes will host a free study
skills seminar entitled “Using Your Literacy Skills to Succeed This School
Year,” Wednesday, September 13 at 6:00 pm at the San Luis Obispo Learning
Center.
This free, two hour study skills seminar will provide the tools necessary
to ease you and your child into a new school year. It will be a fun and
simple hands-on seminar geared at addressing tasks such as study skills,
time management, setting up a successful study space, and more.
“We are excited to offer this opportunity for parents and children
to join together and learn how to become more successful students,” Center
Director Nikki Jakins said. “It is a great long term investment that
will start this school year off in the right direction.”
The seminar will include an informative presentation along with activities
for parents to do with their children in preparation for creating the right
learning environment at home, along with all of the necessary tools.
“Our focus at the center is on the process of learning and the development
of the necessary learning skills. By hosting this free seminar we can share a
small piece of that knowledge with our students’ families, along with those
who are not students, and help them to better prepare for their success in school,” said
Jakins.
This year marks Lindamood-Bell’s 20th anniversary, although their programs
have been in use for over 30 years. Their programs have received national
recognition from CNN, Newsweek, Time, US News and World

to develop their underlying processing skills for successful reading and
spelling.
