San Luis Obispo, CA, December 6, 2011 –Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes celebrated its 25th Anniversary as an internationally recognized leader in literacy and remediation.  The San Luis Obispo based company, along with its local Learning Center, showcased their corporate headquarters with campus tours and presentations.

 

The event was kicked off with a ribbon cutting from the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, along with several awards from local dignitaries.  Lindamood-Bell Directors Nanci Bell and Phyllis Lindamood accepted awards on behalf of the company, including a Senate Resolution from Senator Sam Blakeslee and Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian, a Congressional Certificate of Achievement on behalf of Congresswoman Lois Capps and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, a Certificate of Achievement from the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors, and a proclamation from the City of San Luis Obispo, presented by Mayor Jan Marx.

 

“This has been a remarkable journey,” said Nanci Bell, co-founder and CEO of Lindamood-Bell.  “In 1986, people came to San Luis Obispo from near and far to get instruction in our programs.  As demand grew, it wasn’t long before our students began asking us to come to them.  So, we opened learning centers in other locations, began collaborating with schools, and hosted our workshops across the country and around the world.  We’re proud of what Lindamood-Bell has become today, and honored to help so many individuals reach their potential to learn.”

 

Lindamood-Bell was founded in San Luis Obispo in 1986 by Nanci Bell and Patricia and Charles Lindamood, and has grown to 49 Learning Centers across the United States, with two international centers in London, England, and Sydney, Australia.  They are involved in over 100 School Partnerships throughout the United States, and offer professional development workshops in their programs to audiences worldwide.  Their research-validated programs teach children and adults the underlying skills necessary for reading, spelling, and comprehension.
