Instruction for Learning Difficulties


Many children and adults struggle with reading, comprehension, and math, regardless of whether or not they have been diagnosed with specific learning disabilities. Because Lindamood-Bell® instruction is based on each individual’s learning needs, our programs are exceptionally effective for students exhibiting symptoms of dyslexia, ADHD, hyperlexia, CAPD, autism spectrum disorders, and most other challenges that are often labeled as "reading disabilities."

At our learning centers, we provide intensive, one-to-one instruction that focuses on developing the underlying processes needed for successful, independent learning. Proficiency in learning requires the ability to process language, which is dependent on the sensory-cognitive functions of phonemic awareness, symbol imagery, and concept imagery. In many cases, what people believe to be learning disabilities are really just weaknesses in one or more of these sensory-cognitive functions.

For nearly 30 years, Lindamood-Bell instruction has consistently provided both children and adults with the tools they need to become confident, self-monitoring, independent learners. Instead of focusing on a student’s so-called “reading disabilities,” we conduct a standardized learning ability evaluation to determine exactly where the student’s strengths and weaknesses lie. Then, we address the weaknesses with intensive, one-to-one instruction, designed specifically for the individual student. It is common to see years of learning gain after just four to six weeks of intensive instruction.

We offer oral and written language comprehension programs for students who struggle with communication, following directions, or keeping up with stories and conversations. These comprehension programs also involve the development of expressive language, and are particularly effective for students exhibiting symptoms of autism spectrum disorders, hyperlexia, ADHD, CAPD, or other learning disabilities, difficulties, and challenges.

We offer phonemic awareness and reading programs for students who struggle with decoding, spelling, or recognizing words in print. These reading programs are effective for students exhibiting symptoms of dyslexia, ADHD, CAPD, or other reading disabilities, difficulties, and challenges.

We also offer a math program for students who struggle with basic computation, retaining math facts, applying math concepts, or solving word problems. This math program is effective for students exhibiting symptoms of dyscalculia, dyslexia, ADHD, CAPD, or other math disabilities, difficulties, and challenges.

  2. Schedule a Learning Ability Evaluation or a free screening.
  3. Enroll for instruction.
