History

Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes was founded by Charles and Patricia Lindamood and Nanci Bell in 1986 — with one Learning Center in California. We believed then, and now, that all individuals can learn to process language once the underlying sensory-cognitive functions are stimulated and established.

This has been a remarkable and passionate journey. In 1986, people came to San Luis Obispo, California, from near and far to receive instruction in our programs. As demand grew, it was not long before our students began asking us to come to them. So, we opened Learning Centers in other locations, and have grown to operate 48 Learning Centers across the United States, plus one in London, England, and one in Sydney, Australia – for a total of 50 Learning Centers in just 25 years.

As time goes on, we have established School Partnerships, throughout the United States, with the goal of helping children that would otherwise be unable to attend one of our Learning Centers. To further that goal, we also offer professional development workshops in our programs, to audiences that include teachers, parents, and professionals, worldwide. Our research-validated programs teach the underlying sensory-cognitive skills necessary for reading, spelling, math, and language comprehension.

We are proud of what Lindamood-Bell has become today, and honored to help so many individuals reach their potential to learn.
